Cultural Engagement
The goal of Cultural engagement was to teaching a culturally diverse public area to have a larger global understanding of other cultures and how we can develop biblical and theological in a Christian perspective.
Latest Projects
Throughout my years in ministry I have helped various groups become familiar with different cultural perspectives. The groups we were able to engage with were Bangladesh, Ukraine, Japan, Vietnam, and persons with disability. Throughout it people who had never been too or even though about these cultures were able to engage in a theologically sound way that encourages one to value and love people from all different walks. As I am married to a Ukrainian the effects of Feb 24, 2022 have weighed hard with the war by Russia. We have direct family in Ukraine and through a fundraiser we were able to raise over $8000 towards medical supplies which was organized, hosted, designed, and promoted in a single night.
Learning Development
As someone with a diverse background, I consistently strive to appreciate and uphold diversity. I've come to recognize that my multicultural heritage has afforded me numerous opportunities to foster connections between different groups. Being of mixed heritage—part white and part Japanese—has enabled me to empathize with and comprehend the perspectives of individuals from both North American Caucasian backgrounds and Japanese culture. This unique blend has also provided me with insights into how various cultures share commonalities on a global scale, thereby allowing me to bridge divides and find unity within myself. Embracing my dual cultural identity empowers me to actively engage with these diverse cultures, facilitating my ongoing exploration of both their similarities and differences. Through honoring my multicultural roots, I've developed a deeper appreciation for other cultures and strive to promote cross-cultural understanding among others.
Lifelong Lesson
As a lifelong lesson, something I intend to do with Cultural Engagement is always listening. Every piece of a culture whether in it's architecture, people, songs, poetry, speech, perception, and learning is a beautiful lesson to be learned and expanded upon. A single person is a key to unlock an entire new culture and understanding of how God has formed each of us and our backgrounds into something with His purpose in mind. This though cannot be understood from a book or a movie, but a relationship is key. I believe that cultural integration as illustrated in my life is that both unity and diversity come together as a celebration recognizing that they are distinct parts of a whole unit.
